Now don’t get worried, this is soooo easy.
My family loves homemade bread, who doesn’t. Until about 3 years ago I was scared to death to make it. I learned from a woman who was taught by her Mennonite mother-in-law. She gave use the recipe that I listed below and showed us at our moms group how to mix and knead and knead and punch the dough. I did this for about 3 months and then my hands started to hurt.
So, I pulled out my bread maker that was quite dusty and through all of the ingredients into the pan. Voila! Homemade bread!! I make this in the bread maker about 2-3 times a week and it is gone in seconds it seems.
Homemade Bread dough
1 1/2 cups water
1/4 cup oil- veg or olive
1 teas. salt
1/3 cup brown sugar
4 1/2 cups flour I use 2 cups wheat and 2 1/2 cups all-purpose
1 heaping Tablespoon Yeast click here to see my yeast tip
This recipe fits perfectly in a 1 1/2 lb. bread maker.
When make this dough I make it on the dough setting on the machine. Then I take the ball of dough out and form it however I want. I can make French bread type loaves on a cookie sheet or put it into 2 loaf pans.
This is the same dough I use to make the most yummy buns. I take the dough and pinch off small balls of dough about the size of a baseball then place them on a cookie sheet with about an inch between them.
Bake them at 350 degrees for 20 min. They will be golden and crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Oh, I need to go make some more of these. I can’t stand it. My daughter loves to take these to college she can keep them in the freezer and just bring out a few at a time. She is a bread and honey junkie.
Hope you enjoy these as much as we do and seriously they are super easy. Don’t be afraid like I was be strong and courageous.
