Merry Christmas!!!

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas.  I sure did.  I really enjoyed being surrounded by family.  We were even invited to a wedding on Christmas.  I will have pictures and a story on that next week.  I found a quiet moment and thought I would drop in to say hello and ask you our Q of the Week.

Was there a moment on Christmas day, that you felt Holy Spirit goose bumps because you realized the importance of that day?

Jeannie-Mine was during our Christmas service at my Mom's husband's church.  He is the pastor and did a nice little message about the joy in the world, when you have Christ.

Q of the Week.

How many days a week do you eat dinner at the table as a family?

Jeannie-I would say that we eat at the table about 4 days a week and once at the coffee table.  Whenever we have a snack night or pizza we watch a movie with dinner.

Q of the Week?

Alright, tomorrow is the big day.  What is your favorite dish that you will either eat or make on Thanksgiving day?

Jeannie- Mine has to be homemade noodles with turkey gravy that my grandma and mom made for years and now my daughter and I make every year.  Yummy!

Melissa-My answer would be not the food… but I look forward to the table all decorated... I love seeing the table set with china and it looking beautiful. It reminds me of when I was little and seeing my mom work hard all morning to provide this awesome meal for the family. It created anticipation seeing that table set so early in the day while all the food was cooking.
Although… if I must give a food… it would be my mother-in-laws “sweet potatoes with apples”. It is a delicious recipe that was able to get me, who typically did NOT like sweet potatoes, to eat this vegetable. My kids love this side dish. I will have to put it on the website for all to try. It is super yummy!!
How about you?

Q of the Week

Our Question of the Week is:

What's for Dinner at your house?
I have a neighbor that always asks me that question when I see her.  I love that because talking to her about this always gives me good ideas for future dinners.  So let us know what is for dinner at your house.

At Jeannie's house they are having Spaghetti and Homemade meatballs (so easy) and of course my super simple homemade bread.

At Melissa's they are having leftover chili that Melissa made a few weeks ago and then froze.  Smart thinking!

What about all of you?

Q of the Week

We would like to know how you show respect to your man?  The bible tells us that as women we are to respect our husband and husbands they are to love their wives.  Why is this different?  This is because we process acts of love differently and this is how we feel validated by our spouse.  As wives, feel cherished and loved when our husbands do something for us.  And just the same, when we do something for our husbands, they feel cherished and respected when we do something for them. So, what do you do to show respect to your husband?

Here are our answers:

Melissa- While I heard of this concept years ago, I am new at understanding what it really means being fairly new to my commitment to the Lord.  I now understand that my husband IS the head of our home and it has been work in progress for me to give up "wearing the pants".  I show respect to my husband by allowing him to have the final say in the decision making process (sometimes this is done with gritted teeth). But I know it means a lot to him that I step back so that he can be in the role God gave him.

Jeannie-I know this seems silly but my husband loves to have the bed made each morning.  I really could care less; it is just as comfy unmade to me as made.  But to show respect for his needs/wants I make the bed every morning.
Let us know what you do.

Q of the Week

The Question of the week is:
Whether you work outside the home or inside the home or from home, what one thing do you do on a regular basis that makes you feel like you are really connecting with your kids?  This can be a simple or extravagant as you like.  Just fill us in, we all could use some ideas.
Jeannie- For my teenagers it is just sitting with them and asking them a question and letting them just talk.  For my little ones it has to be reading with them and talking about the book as we read.
Melissa-Sitting down and really talking to them, really focusing on what they have to say.
Leave us your answers.
